New Oscars hanging out under the filter waterfall?

I just got my oscars and they are still pretty tiny they are almost two inches and i do my regular water changes, its just them in the tank and they are hanging out under the Filter waterfall every now and then when i turn out the lights of the aquarium. Is this normal? I mean they eat well, they love to greet me when i come into the room…..i just want to make sure they are ok. Any advice out there from fellow Oscar owners?

You should not worry much about oscars…When i first got mine they were around 2 inches and took them about two days before ate and a week before they start to greet me. They used to just stay at one place and when i get far from the tank they swim a little and when i got close they run and go to their hiding place.

You should be lucky that yours are already eaten, so to answer your question yes it’s quiet normal..Oscars are known to act like that so give it time to settle and it will start swimming and being quiet active.

Keep water ways clean, which sounds like you are doing that already so good job…what change should be @ least once a week.

Ok know that your 2 inches or so oscars will not always be two inches. they are one of the fastest growing fish…don’t be surprise to see your oscar be at least 10 inches or more in the next 12 months…but they usually grow fast up to 8-9 inches then slows down a little but some do get that 12 inches in just a years, just depends on the care.

You might have seen videos of oscars eating feeder fish a.k.a goldfish or heard about this but let me give you a word of wisdom: If you want your oscars to live a long healthy disease free life then please do not feed it feeder fish because they contain little to no nutrition but are full of parasites which gives oscars diseases such as HITH (hole in the head) which is the cause of many oscar’s death.

There are plenty of store food that you can feed your fellow oscars and they will grow big and healthy so please stay off feeder fish.
