What watt heat lamp will I need for my new bearded dragon?

I just got a bearded dragon and need to know how many watts I need for my heat lamp?

It depends on how warm or cold your house gets, if you house is around or over 80F in the summer you will only need a very small wattage, like a 40, if your house is kept in the low 70s like most are a 50 should be fine. in the winter however you will want to swap the lamp to a 75 or a 100 and depending on the night temp of your house give the lizard a smaller non-basking night lamp if you turn your heat way down at night. In general, low-mid 90s is a good basking temp. i’ve had my beardy for 1.5 years now and his basking spot is usualy kept between 89-95 on his log about 6 inches under his 50watt bulb and he seems happy as a clam with it
