Aquarium plants the coralife 50/50 fluorescent bulb?

I was told at my lfs that the coralife 50/50 really helps high lighting plants. Is this true? I have the 18 inch 15 watt 6000k version. I was told that the wattage doesn’t matter, but its the type of light, amount of lumens etc. that does. I’d like to know wether this bulb works at all.

whoever told you that really is misinformed. whether or not wattage matters depends on the tank size, and generally, it does, since you’re not going to get high lumens without comparatively high wattage, unless youre using a high tech LED setup (which you are not).

the color temperature that plants do best in is within the range of 6000k to 10000k, you’ll find that most plant bulbs are around 6400k, and higher k temperatures bring out more colors and look brighter.

my usual setup includes a mix of 6400k bulbs for growth, and a couple 10000k bulbs for appearance.
