Its impossible to siphon my aquarium what am i doing wrong!?

so i bought a regular plastic siphon for my aquarium and it will not siphon. i did what the directions say, and the air pressure is suppost to push the water out on the other end and into a bucket but the water just sits at the top of the big part in the aquarium. it doesnt push out the tube to go into the bucket. what is the problem? im getting so frusterated.. ive been trying to do this since 3pm today

Uhh, same thing happened to me. Make sure it’s assembled right and that there are no holes or ways air can get out to properly produce suction. If it’s just a tube(no pump), then you’ll have to move it from side to side for it to start working. If it has an actual pump that you squezze, take it appart and reassemble. Last resort is NOT sucking on it. It’s buying a new one. Sucking on it will place a LOT of bacteria in your mouth which makes it easy for you to get sick. And in case you didn’t know this, fish can have diseases such as tuberculosis which can be passed on to humans.
