What happens if you paint silk with water colors?

Can you actually paint silk with water colors, or would it ruin the fabric?

I think I can explain this better today. Think about what silk is made from, the cocoon of a silk worm. What is the purpose of a cocoon? To keep the mositure inside the cocoon, inside, and to keep the moisture outside the cocoon outside. Meaning, silk doesn not respond well to water.

Secondly, 99% of watercolors are pigmented with what is called “chinese chalk”. Meaning the color your are seeing is liquified chalk, which is not a very stong pigment. So if you were to try to paint silk with watercolors, you would end up with either a ruined blank piece of silk. Or a ruined piece of silk with the palest color imaginable.
