Salt Water
salt water?

my friend decided to start a saltwater aquarium. He has a 10 gallon and a heater so that at this time (only one tank, no gravel, no filter, nothing). What should he succeed? I need details, what type of substrate, chemicals, test equipment, what kind of fish anytihng recommending you think. we're going to buy the stuff soon, so if you answer quickly please:) He did freshwater fish now, so you can mix the material in a tank of salt water (after removal of the existing fish) and add the fish today? thank you very much! yeah … salt water is not my specialty, it will be a learning experience, I'm excited. If you have any advice on one more question, I want a goby sure I saw at the pet store, not I remember in my life, exactly what type it is, but I know he was collecting rocks in their mouths and spitting their achievement. I can take 10 gallons? lol arrested in mid-sentence that … * If you have an idea of all e-mail me

Hi Kylie! A gallon of 10 is a bit small for a saltwater tank. It is feasible, but probably cause more frustration and more work than going with something a little bigger. I suggest at least a 29 (which was the size of my first, but in 6 months I upgraded to a 55 and ranked 29 and – it's addictive once you get to it!). What you need depends on what you want to keep. Here's a quick list of concepts Basic: * A filter rated for a turnover of 5-10 times the volume of reservoir substrate * – I recommend that you obtain a substrate of aragonite (which, as small shells and broken coral fragments – no crushed coral) * rock – a couple of pieces that can be done in a Cave "* sea salt mixture – everything is fine synthetic mixtures * Hydrometer – used to mix the seawater concentration * liquid reagent test kit – I use the saltwater kit API to a new deposit Seawater * good book – I like "new Marine Aquarium Michael S. Paletta. Microcosm Ltd. ISBN 1-890087-52-1 or" Consciousness Marine Aquarist "by Robert M. Fenner. Microcosm Ltd. ISBN 1-890087-02-5 – so much help when the first step in the salt. ** If you decide to go with a bigger tank, protein skimmers to look (not to do yet, but recommended), you may also pick up a head of power if you go for a 29 or greater. Also, if you go over, get a proper size heat – 5 watts per liter of volume of fish tank you saw may have been a species of goby jawfish or shrimp – They look very similar and both collect and sort through substrate for food and create dens (why I proposed the substrate I did – they need something on the positive side of burrows. There are several species of small pearl (jawfish, Randall's goby, red shrimp goby Catalina Goby [the water cooler needs], plus some others) that your friend may be able to hold. hope to keep the tank before you buy though fish – the bike and all, and salt water to age a day or two if you have time to check pH, salinity, etc. and make the fine tuning of chemistry. I'll post more, but you want to submit the measure of what can go if you're still spinning! ADDED: Well, some more news for you. As I said, your friend can consider for a ship sometime in the future. Models the best of them uses a venturi air injection for creating tiny bubbles that bind organic molecules. The bubbles create a column boost water where organic matter are trapped in a series of Cup – which prevents them from contributing to the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates in the tank (sorry do not work in fresh water!). If you want your friend to try to corals, anemones, you may want to seek a better lighting system that comes standard with most settings. Compact fluorescent or T-5 system is the smallest, I would if you get a bigger tank (55 +), you may want to consider a metal halide. Heat also produce a small tank, though. As for chemicals, water conditioner level, if water be used is tap water. If tap water has nitrate or phosphate in your area, you may want to use reverse osmosis water, or combination of these in the future, only to reduce potential algae problems. The mixture of salt should have all the basics you should have the tank, but may have difficulty with the pH levels. The aragonite substrate will help maintain the pH, but it is often difficult to get above 7.8. If you have this problem, I would say Kalkwasser get in shape. Power is a very caustic, so use with care. Mix a teaspoon or a bottle of refreshing water teaspoon soda and add to at least above 8.2 (and can take some good, depending on the chemistry of your water. Keep track of the amount you use, you can plan to add water changes (If you have a 10 gallon tank, and salt water are mixed in a 5-gallon bucket, use 1 / 2 as much). You can add some days, if the decrease in pH (unlike fresh water, you have to do much manipulation of pH in seawater). You should also obtain a glass lid for the reservoir to reduce evaporation and keep fish where they belong – most of the drivers is that if given half an opportunity. As for the fish. A small goby or firefish is your best choice for a gallon of 10. If you go to a 20 or 30, you can save some more money. You should also add a few snails, hermit crabs (blue or red legs), perhaps a shrimp too. But as you know, stay away from this until the tank has a bicycle. On their second album, the multiplatinum trio TLC have given up most of their debut's tomfoolery and have matured into a very modern deep Southern soul, watered and nurtured in hip-hop culture.
