Keeping hermit crab healthy is one way of showing them that we truly love them as pets. Giving them love, care and attention they need; will keep them healthy as well. With the proper love and care, hermit crabs can live for almost twenty years while hermits that are not cared very much will live for as short as ten days only. Caring for them is proven to be the best way in keeping hermit crab healthy for years. That is why most hermit crabs that are feed, cleaned and hydrated well are the ones who really live longer.

In keeping hermit crab healthy, you must feed them foods that are very nutritious. Feed them with fresh fruits and vegetables especially the organic ones for they are preservative free. Give them fresh and salt water for drinking and bathing. Bathing hermit crabs at least once a week will really help in keeping them healthy. Supply your hermits with lots of calcium and carotene foods when molting to easily gain their strength back. A Hermit that lack calcium and carotene gets weak all the time that may lead to death as well.

Another way of keeping hermit crab healthy is providing them the required habitat to stay the rest of its life. The habitat must have the required temperature and humidity in order for the hermit to survive. Hermits need lots of moisture so make sure to maintain and check it always. Put also substrate like play sand in their habitat for they love to dig in especially when they starts to molt. Give them also climbing accessories because these little creatures love to climb a lot. In cleaning the habitat, remember not to use soap in it instead just use water and vinegar in cleaning it. Soaps contain harmful chemicals that are really dangerous for crabs. Strain also substrates to remove any debris and waste that makes germs to live in.

Keeping hermit crab healthy is not difficult especially if you know all these details. If you really care and love them make sure to keep them healthy in all times. Provide all these things and for sure your crab will love you back for it.
