i have a 400w lithonia m59 metal halide ballast. is there a high pressure sodium bulb i can use?

i have a lithonia hi-tek m59 metal halide ballast and fixture. is there a high pressure sodium conversion bulb available that will work with this?

I’m not sure about the ballast, if that would convert or not, but I do know that the high pressure sodium fixture has an electronic circuit board known as the starter. This component is used to supply an extremely high voltage at an extremely low current just long enough to “strike” or start the high pressure bulb so it will glow. Without this component I suspect you will never be able to get the bulb to work. Thirty years ago before electricians knew what they were dealing with they would check voltage at the bulb’s socket, and because of the high voltage they would damage their voltmeter. Stay with the metal halide bulb with metal halide ballasts and fixtures.
