How does a fish pump work?

I was wondering how a fish pump works. I heard it has something to do with magnets, but can anyone explain in more detail?

I presume you mean the pump that is used with home aquariums (not a pump that pumps fish).
It is an air pump that pumps air to power the filters and to circulate the water. In some, an electric motor works a diaphram to produce the air flow; in others it’s an electric operated piston in a cylinder.
