Fuel pump and filter on a Chevy Malibu 2002?

Are there mechanisms out there who know what it would cost to replace fuel pump and fuel filter in a Chevy Malibu 2002? My mechanic said it should not last too long, but I charged $ 730. Is this a price of popularity for this type of replacement? Think I could find a better price?

Of course, you can find a better price someone will always be cheaper, is a competitive business. My feeling is that the mechanical aspect in your car has an hour of diagnosis of their car (730) and probably will stick to its diagnosis. If you have your vehicle towed to another place "Best market" than paying for the cost of towing (if not running), and probably someone else accountable if you make the diagnosis a guarantee of proper repairs. And the time to work on our database is 2 hours, 5 hours to replace the fuel filter. Its high price can be a litte but if you feel comfortable with the mechanics and have a representative to do the job right the first time you're in good shape. Also the fuel pump quality is expensive, make sure that is what you get. Good luck.
