Can cherry shrimp and crystal reds co-exist in the same aquarium?

Can cherry shrimp and crystal reds co-exist in the same aquarium?

Will they interbreed?

Will they eat each other’s babies?

I’ve never personally kept the two together, though I have kept each separately in the past. Neither was particularly aggressive, and they get roughly the same size so housing them together shouldn’t be a issue.

No they won’t inter breed as crystal reds are of the ‘Caridina’ family and cherries are of the ‘Neocaridina’ family.

Just as all fry are game for other fish, be they their own, of their species or something else entirely, the same goes for shrimp.
Though neither species is overly predaciouse, food is food and if presented the meal of a baby shrimp, neither species is going to turn it down.
But they shouldn’t actively hunt them down, and provided with a well planted aquarium you should be fine.
