There are many breeds of domestic cats. Most people, including cat lovers have not heard of a number of them. That will almost certainly be aware of this rare species.

For there is little hard fact surrounding the history of the Sokoke cat. The race is named after the forest where it originated in the Kenyan coast. Sokoke Forest is the largest of African wildlife and contains the most interesting.

Near the forest is the African savannah, where another cat, this time a wild cat called the Serval.

The local population, the Giriama tribe, who live near Sokoke forest have been aware of the long Sokoke and say this race, cat has been living in the area for perhaps centuries.

They say the Sokoke is neither a cat or the cat wildcat appearance is markedly different. Living as they have done with this cat for as long as they are to be believed.

Although the Sokoke is the size of a cat look is slim and exotic, that looks like a cross between the Serval and Bengal.

Arguably, such as mating actually occurred. But there is no evidence to support that.

Of DNA analysis of the cat gene shows no sign of a wild cat. The Sokoke is probably a domestic cat living in and around the villages of the tribe that used Grimiama the chat as a food source at a time.
