Do automatic fish feeders work well?

I am planning a month long trip in July and was wondering if an automatic feeder would feed my fish for that long? It is a 29 gallon and by then I will probably have 10 small to medium sized fish.

I have recently used an automatic fish tank feeder over a 28 day period which has proved successful. A few issues can be noted though: The food had run out at the end of the period and i suspect the fish went without feeding for a few days but they were ok. Another issue is the possibilty of the battery run out (if not running of the mains). Also i had a problem with where to place the feeder as it was very large and on return almost a third of the water had evapourated due to leaving a gap for the feeder to work. Overall despite the problems i do recommend one!
